Paul F. Scherff age 69, passed away suddenly at 3:05 pm on Friday, January 19, 2018, at his home.
He was born on August 14, 1948 in Alton, the son of the late Harold O. & Virgie R. (Lotton) Scherff. Paul married Donna L. (Boulch) on May 22, 1971 in St. Peters Church in Prairietown, she survives.
Paul was employed at Shop N Save in Alton as a manager in the meat cutting department for 30 years retiring in 2011, he then went to work for Madison Co. Transit driving a bus for seven year and in August of 2017 started to work for the Staunton School district as a bus driver. He was a member of St. Peters Lutheran in Prairietown, IL and the Prairietown Fire Department. He enjoyed farming and camping and spending time with his family, friends, especially his grandchildren and extended family.
Besides his wife, Paul is survived by his estranged son, Stephen Scherff and daughter Kara Simmons of Collinsville; two good friends that Paul and Donna thought of as their children, Rob and Nancy Werden of Prairietown; four grandchildren, Trinity and Kade Simmons and Bobby and Remi Werden; two sisters and their spouses, Brenda & Bill Gusewelle of Prairietown and Vickie & Gary Upton of OH and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Peters Lutheran in Prairietown.
Visitation will continue from 10 am until the time of funeral service at 11 am on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at St. Peters Lutheran in Prairietown with Pastor Dale Skeesick officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in Prairietown.
Memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran School in Prairietown.
