Carole Thomas

Carole J. Thomas, age 84, of Godfrey, Illinois, passed away on Sunday,January 14, 2018, 12:30 p.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.She was born on November 26, 1933 in Alton and was the daughter of theLate Alois J. and Violet C. (nee: Hall) Schmidt.A 1951 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, she later married Wayne E. Thomas.  He survives. Prior to retiring, she was employed as an accountant at McDonnell Douglas for many years, and was a member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Alton Post #1308.In addition to her beloved husband, Wayne she is also survived and will be greatly missed by a son; Todd A. (Jackie) Fennell of Brighton, Illinois, two step-sons; Mark Thomas of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Dr. Michael (Darcy) Thomas of Ridway, Colorado, a step-daughter; Diane Jordan of Ellisville, Missouri,A grandson; Nick Fennell, step-grandchildren; Jeff Standefer and Brandy Standefer,other extended family and friends.In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandson; Jamie Fennell.Visitation will be Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey from 10:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. with Father Steven Janoski as Celebrant.Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton.For those desiring, memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School in Alton.Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.An online tribute and guest book may be found at www.staten-fine.com
