Pat Gentelin

Pat Gentelin, 83, passed away, unexpectedly, to her heavenly home at 10:29 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born in Wyatt, MO on August 8, 1934 she was the daughter of James and Clara (Harrellson) Sauls.  Always considered to be "the baby" (of 12 children), she lived longer than any of her siblings.

She had worked 22 years in the cafeteria at Alton High School, was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, an active member of the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life and will always be remembered for her contagious laugh and smile by all those who dearly loved her.

Pat truly married the "love of her life", Frank Gentelin on October 30, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton; and to that union were blessed with four sons, Joe (Karen), Terry (Tina), Randy (Louise), Brad (Shelly); 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a dear nephew, Rick Faccin; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, wonderful neighbors and dear friends.

Her parents; husband; four brothers; and seven sisters preceded in death.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 4 from 9 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.

She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Alton next to her husband, Frank.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church or Relay for Life Team "Imagine".

Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.
