Robert Lucian Brooks, 81, of Jerseyville, Illinois, died on December 15, 2017 at Jerseyville Manor. He was born on Hollow Avenue in Jerseyville, Illinois, at his Hefner grandparents’ home on October 6, 1936 to Clarence and Lois (Hefner) Brooks.
Bob lived in Jerseyville and the surrounding rural area for his entire life. He graduated from Jersey Community High School with the Class of 1955. He married his high school sweetheart, Wilma Robinson on September 7, 1958 at the First Baptist Church of Jerseyville. They recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Bob worked for the same company for 45 years, retiring as purchasing manager for the Granite City facility of Archer Daniels Midland in 2005.
Active in the Jerseyville community, Bob was past president of the Jaycee’s, and was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks Club, a representative of the Jerseyville Ambassadors. In addition, he was a member of the Alton-Wood River Sportsmen’s Club. He was also a member of the Missouri Air National Guard.
Bob is survived by his wife and daughter, Cindy Brooks, both of Jerseyville; a son-in-law, Mike Rodgers of Brighton, Illinois; 2 grandsons, Adam Rodgers of St. Louis, Missouri and Nicholas Rodgers of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Carol (Brooks) Geil of Allen, Texas; a sister-in-law, Linda (Duncan) Brooks of Chatham, Illinois and a brother-in-law, Frank Fulkerson of Macomb, Illinois. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Tim & Cindy (Dial) Geil of Allen, Texas; Dan & Marsha (Moore) Geil of Hartford, Illinois; Ed Fulkerson of Macomb, Illinois; Steve Fulkerson of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Doug & Lisa (Brooks) Simmons of Chatham, Illinois; Dan & Angela (Fulkerson) Morrell of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and John & Susan (Fulkerson) DeGregory of Knoxville, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents and father & mother in-law, William Clayton Robinson and Margie (Brotherton) Robinson; his eldest daughter, Suzanne (Brooks) Rodgers on February 27, 2015; his brother Richard Brooks and a sister, Judy (Brooks) Fulkerson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm -8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Funeral will be at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Alexander & Gubser Funeral Home in Jerseyville. Rev. Ed Haun will officiate; burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Givin’ it All for Guts Foundation, in memory of Suzanne (Brooks) Rodgers.
