Audrey Newingham

Audrey Lucille Newingham, 82, died at 10:12 a.m., Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Blackberry Cottages at Jerseyville Estates, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

She was born in Manchester, Illinois on Oct. 31, 1935, one of three daughters born to the late Andrew and Margaret J. (Sipes) Lawson.

Lucille's professional life was centered around retail and interactions with the public.  She began working at Rudolph's Department Store in Jerseyville, and later, alongside her husband Gary, she owned and operated Newingham's Office Supply in downtown Jerseyville.

She married Gary Leroy Newingham on May 22, 1954 in White Hall, Illinois, and together they were the proud parents of two children and shared nearly 46 years of marriage prior to his death on April 9, 2000.

Surviving are a son and daughter in-law, Robert and Anita Newingham of Carmi; and daughter and son in-law, Cynthia and Robert Lucas of Jerseyville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Erin and Scott Carpenter of Carmi,  Mallory and Tim Headlee of Carmi, Michael and Tuesday Lucas of Phoenix, Az., Kyle and Suzanne Lucas of Grafton, and Jacob Lucas and Michael Redow of Phoenix, Az.; 10 Great Grandchildren, Lyla, Gabriel, Skylar, Penelope, Crosby, George, Olive, Violet, Zoey and Gigi; along with her two sisters and a brother in-law, Jeanette Boston of Jerseyville and Judith and Robert Reese of Jerseyville.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday.  Rev. Brent Meyer will officiate.

Burial will take place in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in Jerseyville, where she was a longtime and active member.
