JERSEYVILLE -   Michael Coop Wimmersberg, 55, died at 9:30 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2017 at Christian Hospital Northeast after several years of declining health.He was born in Jerseyville on April 16, 1962, and was the oldest of three children born to Michael House and Carolyn Lee (Coop) Wimmersberg.Michael grew up in Jerseyville, and graduated in 1980 from Jersey Community High School, where he was a solid athlete, lettering in both wrestling and football, and participated in the school choirs.  He was of the Catholic faith, and attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Jerseyville,  where he enjoyed his time participating with the church choir.After graduation, Michael attended what is now DeVry University in Kansas City, Mo.,  and soon began working for Circuit City, Highland Superstores in Dallas, Texas, and retired as the service manager for the Best Buy in Earth City, Mo, as his health began to fail.Surviving are his mother, Carolyn Wallace of Jerseyville; his father, Michael Wimmersberg; a son, John; a daughter, Margaret; three grandchildren; two sisters and brothers in law, Sheryl MolloyPegram, and her husband Steve of Dow, and Ellen Suttles, and her husband, Jeff of Jerseyville; nieces and nephews, Mindy Smith, Carolyn Molloy, Britney Opperman, and her husband Chris, SheariahPegram, Dylan Suttles and SydniSuttles; his longtime loving companion, Cheryl Cunningham of Jerseyville; and his only surviving uncle and aunt, Gordon and Dottie Coop of Jerseyville; along with his canine companion, Brownie.He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harry and Margaret Coop, John Wimmersberg, and Leavetta House Mills; and a great niece, Clara Belle Simpson.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday.  Father Patrick Gibbons will officiate.He will be laid to rest in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.
