Delbert Tinker

Delbert “Deb” Tinker, 86, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at home with his family by his side.

He was born October 10, 1931, in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, son of the late Perry and Lola Tinker.

Delbert and Clara (Anthony) were married on February 13, 1954, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in East Alton.

He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

He owned and operated Zephyr Service Stations in Bethalto and Bunker Hill for 25 years before retiring.

He was a counselor for the blind at IMPACT and was also ordained a Primitive Baptist Elder.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Tinker; two daughters Sherry Ridings of Bethalto and Sandra Hayes of Bethalto; special great-granddaughter Alexis Noel; nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Delbert was preceded in death by a son Jeffery Tinker; brother-in-law and dear friend Bob Anthony; two sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of funeral service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.

Private family burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto, Illinois at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Alton BJC Hospice.
