Mary Elizabeth Ryan, 64, died at 4:55 a.m., Monday, September 25, 2017 in the Emergency Room at Jersey Community Hospital.
She was born in Alton on April 7, 1953, one of five children born to the late William P. “Bill” and Margaret A. “Peggy” (Shortal) Ryan.
Mary grew up in Jerseyville and attended St. Francis Xavier Grade School and graduated with the class of 1971 from Jersey Community High School.
She then went on to further her education at St. Johns School of Nursing in Springfield and began a long career as a Registered Nurse.
She spent many years working in the Bolingbrook area before relocating back to Jerseyville in 2002, where she was employed at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton as well as Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville, until her health required her to retire.
Mary was strong in her faith as a devout Catholic and devoted much time reflecting and praying.
Surviving are two brothers and a sister-in-law, John & Karen Ryan of Bolingbrook and James Ryan of Jerseyville; a sister and brother-in-law, Theresa & Howard Beldner of Chesterfield, MO; as well as a niece and nephew, Mary Elizabeth and William Ryan Beldner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother in infancy, Daniel Ryan.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to her devoted caregivers, Kathy Albrecht and Sherry Williams, for the outstanding care they provided to Mary over the past years.
Per her wishes, no services will be held.
