Frances Irene McDaid, 72, passed away 6:15 a.m., Saturday, April 22, 2017at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
Born July 9, 1944 in Granite City, she was the daughter of Paul Etzel and Verna Wilma (Mercer) Smith.
On November 30, 1964 in Granite City she married John R. McDaid. He survives.
Surviving also are a son, Michael McDaid of East Alton; two daughters, Paula Chappell and Patricia Steward both of Cottage Hills; six grandchildren, Byron Williams, Darcy Collman, Jessica Chappell, Ashley, Anthony and David McDaid; three great grandchildren, Zaydon Martin, Trinity and Kira Williams; brother, Bob (Debbie) Smith of Wrights; five sisters, Leona Tanner, Donna (Bill) Tanner, Beverly Hildreth, Sue Manninger Janice (John) Bailey all of Granite City; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents and five brothers, Les,William, Wilbur, Louis and Larry Smith preceded in death.
A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will be accorded following the visitation.
A memorial service will be held at the Alton Moose Lodge at a later date.
