Darlene M. Geisen, 84, passed away at 6:06 pm, Monday, March 27, 2017 at Alton Nursing and Rehab in Alton.
She was born on October 28, 1932 in Alton the daughter of the late Levi and Viola (Allsman) Lewis.
She married John L. Geisen on November 11, 1950 in Alton. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2013.
Darlene was a long-time member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton where she was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary’s Catholic School, and was an avid reader and enjoyed playing bingo.
She is survived by three sons and their spouses, John “Jerry” and Veronica Geisen of Alton, Richard Geisen of Hartford, Randall and Tammy Geisen of Edwardsville; a daughter and her spouse Sheila and Timothy Starkey of Alton; 15 grandchildren: Mary Yoder, Viola Buehrlen, John D. Geisen, Victoria Pocklington, Valerie Ward, Shelly Coonrod, Jeffrey Greer, Jennifer Mills, Richard Geisen, Jr., Christina Pollock, Christopher Geisen, Randall Geisen, Jr., Steven Geisen, James Geisen, Jason Geisen, , 24 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren; 7 Step Great Grandchildren, a Brother Jack Lewis; two Sisters Barbara Binning and Brenda Calame both of East Alton.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Nancy Lewis and Carolyn Anderson; two brothers Donald Lewis and Allen Lewis
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Thursday,March 30, 2017 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. John Paul O.M.V. as Celebrant.
Private Burial will be held at a later date at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
