Dateline:  West Alton, MOClifford Edler, 82, died at 9:09 a.m. on Friday, February 24, 2017 at his residence.  He was born July 8, 1934 in Portage De Sioux, MO the son of Edward and Clara (Sprick) Edler.  He was confirmed at the age of 15 at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey.  He was an old car enthusiast, loved boating with his kids and enjoyed the Lake of The Ozarks.  He retired as a tractor driver in the shipping department at Owens Illinois Glass.  After retirement, he went to worked for 13 years for Laborers Union 660 of St. Charles, MO where he was a member for over 50 years. On October 16, 1954 in Sardis, MS he married Harriet Adams and she survives.  Also surviving are two sons; David Edler (Terri) of Godfrey, IL and Steve Edler (Janine) of South St. Louis, MO, four grandchildren; Christopher, Sarah, Garrett and Connor Edler.  He was preceded in death by three brothers; Wilbert, Lester and Edward Edler, and one sister; June Fahrig.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2017 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 with Reverend John Shear officiating.  Burial will be at Ebenezer Cemetery in West Alton, MO.  Memorials may be made to John Calvin Presbyterian Church 12567 Natural Bridge Road, Bridgeton, MO or Heartland Hospice 1097 Wentzville Pkwy, Wentzville, MO 63385.  Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com
