Karen Sue Schelm, 67, died at 1:25 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Willow Rose Rehab. & Health Care Center in Jerseyville. Born June 8, 1949 in Alton, she was the daughter of Raymond and Lucy (Dalton) Needham. Mrs. Schelm worked for Owens Illinois for 12 years before working as a cashier for Red Fox, Sinclair’s and Tom’s Grocery Stores. On January 12, 1974 she married Rodney Schelm in Alton. He preceded her in death in 1982. Surviving is a son, Raymond Schelm of Jerseyville, two grandchildren, Alayna Schelm and Ashlynn Schelm, and a sister, Nancee McNamara of Alton. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry Needham and her twin brother, Bob Needham. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Upper Alton Cemetery. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
