Georgia M. McKinney, 68, beloved daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend, passed peacefully on Jan. 29, 2015 at 7:25 p.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side.
Georgia was born July 22, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Naomi (Watts) and the late George Boyd, Jr.
She began her walk with Christ as a child and remained a good and faithful child of God through out her life.
Georgia, from Centreville, IL, completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pine Bluff Arkansas and her graduates at Southern Illinois University. Georgia molded young minds as an elementary school teacher for the Alton School District until retirement. She touched many lives through her profession, as well as through her faith, compassion, and kindness.
She was preceded in death by husband John H. McKinney Jr.
Left to cherish fond memories: a son, John Henry(Laura J.)Mc Kinney, III of Newport News, Virginia; mother, Naomi Boyd of Centerville; a sister Shirley Boyd of Alton; a brother, Forrest(Linda)Nelson of East Saint Louis; 2 nieces, Ashley Havis and Zina Morgan; a nephew, Cas Havis; a great nephew, Dito Castito; a brother-in-law, Theron (Bernice) McKinney; 6 sisters-in-law, Mary Green, Charlotte Finley, Joyce(John)Riley, Sheila McKinney, Naomi(Frederick)Robinson, and Valorie (Stanley)McGee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will convene Friday, February 6, 2015 from 10 until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Tabernacle of Praise Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1721 Parker Rd, St. Louis, MO.
