Robert R. Weller, 71 of East Alton, Illinois passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Robert was born on February 23, 1950, in St. Louis, Missouri; the son of the late William E. and Betty Lou (Woodward) Weller.
Robert was a tool and die maker for Olin Corporation and proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2859 in Wood River and the American Legion Post 0214 in Bethalto. Most of all Robert loved to spend time with his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Robert is survived by and will be missed by his son; Scott Weller and Tammy Dalhaus of Wood River, IL; daughter, Christine Weller and Jason Plunk of Alton, IL; sisters, Judy and Bob Tatum of Granite City, IL, Frances Weller-Caughlan and Brian Caughlan of Edinburg, IL; brother, Gerald Weller of Granite City, IL; granddaughter, Hannah Weller, and many other close family members and friends. He proceeded in death by a brother Steve Weller.
In celebration of Robert’s life, the family and friends will be meeting at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 11:15 a.m. for a processional to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery where Robert will be laid to rest with full military rites at 12:30 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested to Robert Weller, To The Transplant in care of the foundation, Barnes Jewish Hospital, 1001 Highlands Plaza Drive West, Suite 140, St. Louis, MO 63110 or online at foundationbarnesjewish.org.
