Through the afternoon, breaks of sun will help push the temperature to a high near 89, but the bigger story will be developing showers and thunderstorms. Rain chances climb to 90 percent, and some storms could turn heavy with flooding downpours and isolated damaging wind gusts. Winds stay fairly light, generally around 5 mph. Friday evening remains unsettled with more rounds of showers and thunderstorms around the area. Overnight stays cloudy, humid and active at times before settling toward a low near 72.

The allergy index appears low Friday. Main allergens include grass, mold, ragweed and tree pollen, all at low levels.

Saturday brings more clouds, a little less heat and another good chance for showers and thunderstorms. The high is expected near 81 and the low around 70. Rain chances stay elevated during the day, but conditions should improve Saturday night as skies clear out.

Sunday looks like the weekend recovery day. Expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 87 and a low around 66. It will be warm and more comfortable, with just a slight chance of a stray shower and a much quieter finish to the weekend.
