CAHOKIA HEIGHTS — The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is asking for the public’s help as it continues investigating a Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, shooting in the 800 block of Saint William Drive in Cahokia Heights involving 17-year-old Darvel Thomas and a second teen.

Thomas, of Cahokia Heights, has been identified as the 17-year-old victim in the homicide investigation, according to the Major Case Squad. A second victim, a 16-year-old from Cahokia Heights, was treated and released from the hospital.

More than 20 investigators have worked on the case and followed up on more than 60 leads since the investigation began, officials said. The investigation remains active, and no suspects are currently in custody.

The Major Case Squad is requesting assistance from the public related to video surveillance footage connected to the news release. Anyone who recognizes the person of interest in the video is asked to contact the Major Case Squad command post at 618-332-4277 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (8477).
