CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – After clinching the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title Friday, SIUE women's tennis completed the regular season undefeated Saturday with a 6-1 victory at Southeast Missouri.

SIUE, 19-0 overall and 9-0 in the OVC, will be the No. 1 seed for the six-team OVC Tournament, which is set for the Centennial Sportsplex Tennis Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The Cougars, the defending OVC Tournament champions, will play at 10 a.m. Saturday in the 2017 OVC Tournament semifinals against the winner of the match between No. 4 seed Eastern Illinois and the No. 5 seed Southeast Missouri. The 4-5 matchup takes play Friday at 10 a.m.

"What a terrific weekend for this team," said Head Coach Nick Mueller. "Being the outright regular season champs is a great accomplishment."

In doubles play, the No. 2 pair of Lexi Aranda and Morgan Steffes captured a 6-4 win over SEMO's Anais Emelie and Kseniya Zonova. Also capturing a win was the No. 3 duo of Lara Tupper and Callaghan Adams with a 6-1 victory against Mila Majtan and Ana Canahuate-Torres.

Singles played out with five wins for the Cougars. No. 1 Lexi Aranda defeated Isabella Krupa in two straight sets, 6-4, 6-4 and No. 2 Mia Frogner also gained a victory over Oleksandra Doroshenko 6-3, 6-0. Wins also were earned from No. 3 Tiffany Hollebeck, No. 4 Morgan Steffes and No. 6 Lara Tupper.

"SEMO is a solid team, and we rose up to the challenge well today," said Mueller. "We have a bigger goal in mind, and that begins Saturday. I'm very proud of this team for how they have handled everything."
