Players Kayden Jennings and Darren Rosenburg recently stopped by “Our Daily Show!” with CJ Nasello to talk through the season’s goals and their experiences so far. Rosenburg has been with the team since the season started, while Jennings arrived a few days ago. Both are eager to play summer ball and turn the team around.

“The energy has been just ramping up the entire time,” Rosenburg said. “We’ve been doing a lot better as a team. We’ve been clicking a lot better. We’re getting to know each other. We’re having more fusion. It’s just a lot more team chemistry and a lot more trust in our guys. People are kind of finding their bearings on the team and on the field.”

Rosenburg, an incoming college sophomore, shared that he has played summer ball in Puerto Rico and trained in the Dominican Republic, but this is his first year in the Prospect League. Jennings has finished a few years at Northern Illinois and will be transferring to Western to finish his college degree; this is his first summer in the Prospect League.

Jennings, an Edwardsville High School graduate, joined the team for its second half, which started on Saturday, June 27, 2026. He is already impressed by the team, the facility at Lloyd Hopkins Field, and the feel of playing near his hometown. He added that he has enjoyed his experience so far.

“We definitely want to get some wins on the board and also just have fun. I think these first few days in the second half, we’ve had lots of fun,” he said. “It’s only a matter of time before that fun clicks into wins.”

Rosenburg agreed. He noted that the energy in the second half of the season has already felt “wildly different” and “a lot better” with a new roster and different coaches leading the charge.

Rosenburg and Jennings hope that the season turns around and the River Dragons can deliver some wins, but they emphasized that summer ball is about more than winning. Both players have enjoyed connecting with the crowd, exploring Alton, and engaging with their teammates.

“Honestly, the impressiveness of our team and our talent was kind of abnormal for me,” Rosenburg said. “These people know what they’re doing. The Prospect League is no joke. We’ve got some good talent out there. All of our guys can perform at the highest level.”

The team is strong and ready to tackle the second half, with home games on June 30, July 1 and July 11 coming up. You can purchase tickets online or visit the official Alton River Dragons website or Facebook page for more information.
