GRANITE CITY - Granite City Police said an individual was wounded in a shooting Wednesday evening inside a residence in the 4600 block of Maryville Road, and a suspect has been taken into custody.

The Granite City Police Department said officers were dispatched at approximately 5:39 p.m. July 29, 2026, to a residence on Maryville Road in reference to an individual with a gunshot wound.

An initial investigation found that at least one round was fired inside the residence, striking the subject, police said.

Granite City Shooting

The subject was transported to a local hospital and is receiving medical treatment, according to police.

Police said the suspect in the incident has been taken into custody and that there is no threat to members of the community.

The Granite City Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. Police said no further information will be released at this time.
