ROXANA - Max Autery gave Roxana baseball a steady presence behind the plate and production throughout the lineup, recently concluding an athletic career at Roxana with another strong baseball season as a catcher, infielder and pitcher before heading to Quincy University to play baseball.
Roxana baseball coach Jerry Wheaton said Autery, a four-year starter, also had tremendous success on the football field.

“Max was the leader behind the plate,” Wheaton said. “He’s going to be one that’s going to be just really hard to replace because of his ability to manage a game as a catcher and hold runners at bay. Max just works so hard to perfect his craft as a catcher. [He's] going to Quincy University to play baseball, and I think he will do well there.”
Autery hit .398 in 2026 with 39 hits, 40 RBIs, 12 doubles, five triples and four home runs. Over four years in a Roxana uniform, he had a .348 career batting average with 100 hits.
Autery also played running back and middle linebacker for the Shells, and Roxana will miss him on the football field as well.
