MORO — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and several area fire departments responded on Saturday afternoon, Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, to the 100 block of Vine Street in Moro for a reported house explosion, the sheriff’s office said.

One home appeared destroyed and several others damaged in the explosion, according to the information provided.

The sheriff’s office asked people to stay away from the area.

“Please avoid the area,” the office said.

Fire departments responding included Meadowbrook Fire, Wood River Fire, East Alton, Fosterburg Fire, Prairietown Fire, Dorsey Fire, Worden Fire, Hamel Fire, Rosewood Heights, Bethalto and Holiday Shores fire departments.

“When details can be confirmed, we will release additional information,” the sheriff’s office said.
