Letter To The Editor:
I’d like to endorse Mike Drake for third ward alderman. As a fellow former city department head, I know what it entails in preparing a budget and doing your best to interact with the community. Mike helped re-develop a couple Alton parks, being Hellrung and Olin, that had previously been unusable, due to being neglected and unkept.

He procured grants, met with city officials and was instrumental in re-doing and re-equipping these parks. Mike also organized a neighborhood committee to deter crime in his neighborhood. He had several neighborhood meetings, which were attended by Mayor Walker, other city officials, and myself while Alton’s Police Chief.
We need more community minded citizens like Mike, in leadership roles in the city of Alton, which is why I support him for this position.
