FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS – The Illinois Department of Transportation today announced upcoming lane closures on westbound Interstate 55/I-64/U.S. 40 between Illinois 3 and the Poplar Street Bridge in St. Clair County for bridge repairs.
Beginning at midnight Monday, Sept. 14, two westbound mainline lanes will be closed at this location. The two outer lanes and ramps will remain open during the closure.

All lanes are expected to reopen on or before 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, weather permitting.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve 7,107 lane miles of highway and 8.4 million square feet of bridge deck as part of Rebuild Illinois, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. Accomplishments through Year Seven of Rebuild Illinois include $25.6 billion of improvements statewide to 24,498 lane miles of highway, 959 bridges and 1,475 additional safety improvements.
