ROXANA — The Father McGivney Catholic girls volleyball team recorded a powerful opening in the Roxana Tournament with a 3-0 start Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, in Roxana, winning three matches without dropping a set.

“The Lady Griffins looked good in the opening of the tournament,” Griffins Head Coach Jake Williams said after the match. “We went 3-0 so far in the tournament. We didn't drop a set in the three matches.”

McGivney defeated East Alton-Wood River 25-7, 25-10; Calhoun 25-23, 26-24; and Granite City 25-15, 25-10.

The Griffins will play in the Gold Division of the tournament Saturday, Aug. 29, 2026. They travel to Gillespie on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026.
