JERSEYVILLE - The Jersey County Business Association, with the help of member businesses, provided new district employees with a “welcome bag” at the school district’s new employee orientation Wednesday, August 12th. The bags were filled with school supplies, treats, and more to help teachers and staff during their first days on the job.

Local businesses were quick to offer support and generous donations for the bags as soon as the request came out. For over twelve years, JCBA member businesses have donated items for new teacher "welcome bags" at the beginning of each school year. JCBA Director Katie Shires said, “This is a great opportunity to show new district employees how truly supportive our local businesses are and introduce them to businesses they may not have known about. Whether new employees are Jerseyville natives or have moved here from other districts, they are always so appreciative to know that our community really does wish them well in their school year endeavors.” Donations of notepads, gift certificates, pens, Clorox wipes, Kleenexes, and snacks among other things were donated to fill welcome bags for the 30 new teachers, paraprofessionals and other school staff who are being welcomed into Community Unit District 100 this school year.

Shires continued, “Each new district employee is going to play a role in shaping children’s lives in our community. That is a huge responsibility. It’s so important for these employees to know that they have a community that is backing them each step of the way. Playing even a small part in that by welcoming them with a goodie bag is very rewarding. We’re extremely blessed that our members understand that concept just as much as us and continue to contribute to these bags year after year.”

Donations were received from All About You Beauty Bar & Boutique, City of Jerseyville, Farmers State Bank, Heneghan Associates, P.C., Jersey County Arts Council, Jerseyville Banking Center, Jerseyville Public Library, Jerseyville Taco Bell, JSK Cleaning, Julie’s Graphics, Koen Counseling & Wellness Center, LifeChurch X, Royal Banks of Jerseyville, Strang & Parish, Ltd./Colonial Title & Escrow, Sugar Circus, TCADesigns, The Stadium Theatre, and Whitworth-Horn-Goetten Insurance.

The JCBA would like to congratulate all the new employees of District 100 and wish them a wonderful school year.

Totes filled and ready to be dropped off and presented to new Jersey School District employees.
