GRANITE CITY - The Army Firefighter Reserve Unit in Granite City is scheduled to leave River’s Edge, 1230 Seventh St., at 1 p.m. Sept. 14, 2026, to begin a nine-month deployment, with several local fire departments expected to attend in support.

The public is being invited to line the route as the firefighters and soldiers depart, wave flags, shake hands and show support for the men and women leaving their families, homes and community to serve the country.

Granite City and surrounding communities are encouraged to attend the sendoff and bring flags, children and support for the unit.

The departure is planned from the Army Firefighter Reserve Unit at River’s Edge in Granite City.
