Friends for David Goins will host the Fourth Annual Mayor’s Ball, “Boots & Bling: Where Midwestern Charm Meets Elegance for a Cause,” on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Lewis and Clark Community College Commons in Godfrey, Illinois.
More than 300 guests are expected to attend this year’s sold-out event, bringing together community members, supporters, friends and guests for an evening centered on celebrating the people and organizations that continue to make a difference throughout the region.
With this year’s event now at capacity, the evening will feature dinner, live entertainment, fundraising, and the presentation of the annual Hometown Royalty Awards—an opportunity to shine a light on Alton natives whose talents, accomplishments and contributions have left a meaningful mark on the community.
A Night With a Purpose
At the heart of the Mayor’s Ball is a commitment to giving back.
A portion of the proceeds raised through this year’s event will be designated to support three area nonprofit organizations: Sacred Spaces of CARE, Church Women United–Alton, and Be A Bridge NFP.
Each organization represents a different area of service, while sharing a common commitment to strengthening individuals, families and the broader community.
Sacred Spaces of CARE, an Alton-based nonprofit, works with individuals and families navigating trauma, mental health, substance-use challenges and other difficult life circumstances through advocacy, education, resource navigation and community partnerships.
Church Women United–Alton is part of an inclusive ecumenical Christian women’s movement committed to unity in diversity and empowering women to work toward a world of peace and justice. Through fellowship, service and community engagement, the organization brings women together across denominational lines to strengthen communities and promote positive change.
Be A Bridge NFP focuses on adolescents, building relationships and bridging youth to opportunities that prepare them for successful futures. Its work centers on connecting young people with meaningful relationships, resources and opportunities designed to help them move forward with purpose.
The Mayor’s Ball provides an opportunity not only to raise funds, but also to introduce guests to organizations whose work is taking place throughout the community every day.
Honoring Hometown Royalty
Another highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Hometown Royalty Awards, created to celebrate Altonians whose lives, talents and accomplishments have helped shape the community, surrounding communities, and inspire others.
This year’s honorees include Lindsay Kennedy-Evermeyer, a professional soccer player, coach and trailblazer who will be recognized for her outstanding athletic achievements and contributions to the sport.
The evening will also honor the late Jesse Lee Prather Jr., “The Maestro,” whose extraordinary musical gifts touched generations. A musician, producer, songwriter and gospel recording artist, Prather was known for his artistry and dedication to music. His recognition will celebrate not only his musical legacy, but also the lasting place he holds in the hearts of his family, friends and the Alton community.
Where Midwestern Charm Meets Elegance
The evening’s theme, “Boots & Bling: Where Midwestern Charm Meets Elegance for a Cause,” sets the tone for an event that combines Western-inspired flair with an elegant formal atmosphere.
Guests are invited to bring their finest cowboy hats and boots while enjoying an evening of dinner, music, dancing and celebration.
Entertainment will include the Premier PROtainment Band, returning by popular demand, along with other elements designed to keep guests engaged throughout the evening.
The event is made possible through the generous support of sponsors, community partners, table hosts, volunteers and supporters who have contributed to this year’s celebration.
