BRIGHTON - Wedding dresses spanning from the 1930s to the 2010s will be on exhibit at St. John’s Church Museum and Family Heritage Center in Brighton on Saturday, August 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 23 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to this free special exhibit where 11 wedding dresses representing more than 80 years will be on display. This special wedding dress exhibit will only be on display at the museum and family heritage center for the two days, August 22 and 23.
The exhibit includes a navy-blue wedding dress from 1932, a 1946 wedding dress made from the silk material of a German parachute, a 1958 wedding gown with a hoop skirt, and a variety of other styles of wedding dresses representing other decades.

In addition, there will be a display of nearly 50 wedding photos covering the decades from the 1880s to 2010s.
St. John’s Church Museum and Family Heritage Center is part of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Brighton. The museum includes a variety of artifacts and documents representing the 156-year history of St. John’s UCC.
The family heritage center has church records for baptisms, confirmations, marriages and deaths dating back to the church’s founding in 1870. Many obituaries are also available, including some from the 1870s, 1880s and 1890s. These resources are available to anyone doing genealogy research.
An eight-foot-wide wall display features a giant family tree that includes some of the founders and charter members of the church. Surnames appearing in the church founders’ tree include Bohn, Bott, Brummer, Geisler, Heidemann, Lauck, Oertel, Schafer and Schroeder.
St. John’s Church Museum and Family Heritage Center is located at 216 North Street in Brighton, on the second floor of the church’s education building. A stairlift is available for anyone who may need assistance to the second floor.
