Haupt is in fifth grade at Albert Cassens Elementary School. She works hard every day and is determined to succeed.
She loves her teacher, Lauren Heigert, and the “funny” stories that Heigert shares every day. Haupt also enjoys reading and “doing RACE — restating the question, answering the question, citing evidence and explaining.” This is an important skill that will serve her well.
But Heigert noted that Haupt is “even more special” because of her kindness. Every week, Haupt takes the time to write a kudos to her classmates. She shares these notes during their class meeting.
Haupt said Heigert mentioned a previous student who did this, and it “inspired” Haupt to give it a try. She hopes the notes mean a lot to her classmates.
“Sometimes you don’t always get kudos, and it might make someone sad, so hopefully they might feel a little better,” Haupt said.
She hopes her peers will “take it by heart” and “spread it around,” sharing kindness and positivity with everyone they meet. This is her goal, and she is leading by example.
Congratulations to Rachael for this recognition by the Edwardsville Community Unit School District #7!
