Composer Leroy Anderson.AEDWARDSVILLE - The Edwardsville Municipal Band will continue its summer concert season Thursday, July 16, with a rescheduled performance of “A Tribute to Leroy Anderson” at 7:30 p.m. at the Cleaon Etzkorn Bandstand in City Park.

The free public concert in Edwardsville will spotlight the music of Anderson, whose work includes “Sleigh Ride,” and will feature pieces that emphasize what organizers described as his humor and creativity. Audience members can expect a “sandpaper ballet” and a manual typewriter used as an orchestral percussion instrument.

The program also will feature a trumpet trio of Jeff Steinheimer, Tom Bruce and Jaelyn Hudson performing “Bugler’s Holiday.”

Concessions will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting Glen Ed Kiwanis, a local nonprofit that provides food and services to families in need.

Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the outdoor performance. Updates are available on the Edwardsville Municipal Band’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
