
EDWARDSVILLE - Edwardsville High School won the girls' team title at the Capital City Swimming & Diving Invitational on Sept. 12, 2026, at Eisenhower Pool, where Springfield High School hosted teams competing in the meet.
Edwardsville finished first with 338 points, ahead of O’Fallon Township High School with 262, Mahomet-Seymour High School with 203 and Springfield High School with 198. University High School was fifth with 134, followed by Glenwood High School with 115, University Laboratory High School with 37, Sacred Heart-Griffin with 36, Jacksonville High School with 22, Porta High School with 11 and Southeast High School with two.

Edwardsville opened the swimming events with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. Laine Curry, Ashley Hong, Sidney Becker and Vivian Lu finished in 1 minute, 54.59 seconds. The Tigers also won the 200 freestyle relay, with Alex Suhre, Curry, Hong and Morgan Mitton finishing in 1:41.38.
In diving, Natalie Kaiser won the 11-dive event for Edwardsville with a score of 410.10. Zoey Ludwig was sixth with 294.10, and Riley Edmonson was eighth with 231.50. In the six-dive event, Cecelia Blind placed second for Edwardsville with 157.95.
Mitton added an individual win in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 5:25.58. Becker was third in the same event in 5:34.89, and Aster Carson was seventh in 6:09.80. Curry won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.24, while Magdalena Luitjohan was sixth in 1:22.40 and Aurora Cothran was 11th in 1:30.71.
Suhre placed second in the 200 freestyle in 2:01.88, followed by Mitton in third at 2:03.47. Karissa Osborn was ninth in 2:13.18. In the 100 butterfly, Suhre was second in 1:00.63, Madelyn Sheahan was ninth in 1:10.47 and Lydia Cloud was 12th in 1:17.71.
Hong placed third in the 200 individual medley in 2:17.84. Sheahan was eighth in 2:35.03, and Violet Shaffer was 12th in 2:42.08. In the 100 backstroke, Hong placed second in 1:05.64, Osborn was third in 1:09.63 and Carson was fifth in 1:10.79.
Lu finished second in the 50 freestyle in 26.48, and Becker was third in 26.60. Shaffer was 11th in 28.78. In the 100 freestyle, Curry was second in 53.42, Lu was fourth in 59.95 and Julianna Eastman was 17th in 1:09.07.
Edwardsville also placed second in the 400 freestyle relay. Mitton, Becker, Osborn and Suhre finished in 3:49.78. The Edwardsville B relay of Carson, Sheahan, Cothran and Eastman was seventh in 4:26.35.
The Tigers’ B team in the 200 medley relay placed seventh in 2:18.24 with Luitjohan, Shaffer, Cloud and Cothran. Edwardsville’s B team in the 200 freestyle relay placed ninth in 2:01.39 with Luitjohan, Cloud, Eastman and Shaffer.
