ST. LOUIS - A 42-year-old Dupo, Illinois, woman died on Monday, Sept. 21, 2026, in St. Louis County after a northbound tractor-trailer struck her stalled pickup on Interstate 270 northbound south of Interstate 44, according to crash information investigated by Missouri State Trooper H.L. Rivera and Crash Team No. 2 Sgt. M.A. Frigy.
Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 1:58 a.m. when a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by a 52-year-old Alton, Illinois, man, was northbound in lane 2 of Interstate 270. A 2013 Ram 1500 was stalled in lanes 1 and 2 facing east after being involved in a previous crash.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said in its report the Freightliner struck the Ram, which spun around and traveled off the left side of the roadway, striking the concrete median, according to the report. The driver of the Ram was ejected and came to rest in the southbound lane of Interstate 270, the Highway Patrol said.
The Dupo woman was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis by Kirkwood Fire/EMS and was pronounced dead at 2:59 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2026.
The report listed the Ram as totaled and the Freightliner as having extensive damage. Both vehicles were towed by Miner's Towing.
The investigation was assisted by MSgt. A.H. Michajliczenkc, Cpl. D.A. Crowell, Cpl. D.H. Bert, Trooper E.R. Pritchard and Sunset Hills police.
