ALTON — The IHRA Alton Powerboat Nationals returned to Riverfront Park on Saturday, July 18, 2026, for the third annual running of the event, with provisional leaders emerging in multiple classes as the 2026 championship series heads toward Sunday’s finals on the Mississippi River.

The event, held through Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Alton, brings the IHRA Formula 1 Powerboat Championship Series back to the city, where elite drivers from across North America are competing in races presented by Simmons Hanly Conroy LLP, the City of Alton, Great Rivers & Routes Tourism Bureau and Enjoy Illinois.

First-day results were underway Saturday, with provisional standings showing close competition across the primary divisions as teams positioned themselves for the championship-deciding finals.

In the Formula 1 class, Dylan Anderson held the provisional lead after the opening heats. Second- and third-place results were listed as under review and provisional.

In the Formula Light class, Jake McKee led provisionally through the initial heats. The second- and third-place positions also remained under review on a provisional basis.

In the Tri-Hull class, Cole Wehring entered the weekend leading the series points, with Mason Rinker and Neal Marsh trailing closely.

The event also comes as broader national offshore racing standings continue to take shape in other circuits. In the Race World Offshore and OPA Racing national competition, Monster Energy / M•CON, driven by Tyler Miller and Myrick Coil, leads the Pro Class 1 points chase. Team Montlick leads the UIM and APBA national points standings in Class 2, while Dirty Money Racing holds the early top spot in Super Cat.

Organizers said official final world series results will be published at the conclusion of the event. The Powerboat Championships finals are scheduled for Sunday in Alton.
