ALTON - After 46 years at Alton Memorial Hospital, President Dave Braasch will retire at the end of the year, the hospital said in an announcement praising his long tenure and support for local health care.

The announcement said Braasch has been “a key player in the success of Alton Memorial Hospital and the changes that have occurred” during nearly five decades of service.

“It is with great appreciation and admiration that we share with you important news about Dave Braasch, President of Alton Memorial Hospital,” the AMH announcement said. “After 46 years of exceptional service, Dave has made the decision to retire at the end of the year.”

Alton Memorial Hospital said Braasch has been “a strong supporter of Alton Memorial Health Services Foundation.” The announcement added, “Together, we have worked to keep quality healthcare close to home.”

The hospital said it was happy for Braasch and his family but would miss him “tremendously.”

“We wish him nothing but the best in this next chapter and hope that he finds that perfect fishing hole and catches the big one,” AMH officials said.
