TROY - Head Coach Bill Lawrence recently announced his retirement at the Triad Trap Team banquet at the Edwardsville Gun Club, and he drew a standing ovation from students, parents, coaches, alumni and supporters as the program recognized his eight seasons of service.

The retirement recognition brought a packed room to its feet, according to information shared by the team, and many athletes, past and present, stayed afterward to take photos with Lawrence in front of the EGC banner.

Lawrence retired after eight seasons with the program, including five years as head coach.

The team described the moment as “special” and said it was “a pretty good reminder of the impact a coach can have over the years.”

Lawrence said becoming the head coach of the Triad Trap team provided him with some of the most memorable moments in his life as he thrust everything he had into the role with the students.

At the banquet, Lawrence was presented with a retirement shadow box.
