MT. VERNON - It's been Ally Suhre's big year as a golfer for the Edwardsville girls team, and on Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2026, she won another tournament as the senior took home the individual crown at the IHSA Class 2A Mt. Vernon regional, firing a two-under-par 70 to help the Tigers go on to the team championship at Green Hills Golf Club in Mt. Vernon.

Edwardsville won the team championship with a score of 309 with O'Fallon coming in second at 312, and Belleville East picking up the third and final team berth in the sectional with a 339. Triad came in fourth at 367, while Carbondale was fifth at 368, the host Rams and Mascoutah tied for sixth, both teams shooting 372, Marion was eighth at 373, in ninth place was Belleville West at a 401, Collinsville finished 10th at 414. and Granite City was 11th with a 444.

Alton did advance one golfer, Sabrina Cox, who shot an 85, while Triad's Lauren Koberna fired an 89 to move on to the sectional at the Ironwood Golf Club in Normal, hosted by Normal Community West, on Monday.

In addition to Suhre's winning score, the Tigers saw both Kylie Lintker and Emerson Guesewelle fire a 79 each, Alexis Hunt came up with an 81, Betsy Gates came up with an 89, and Sydney Shrewsberry had a 106. Zoey Ficken came up with a 72 to lead the Panthers, while Raina Vaninger had a 74, Emilia Miller came up with an 80, Samantha Jacob shot an 86, Mai Medley came up with a 90, and Addison Chor shot a 92. The Lancers' top golfer was Cassie Albertina, who had a 79, with Evie Bisso shooting an 83, Reese Schrader fired an 87, Macy Hemmerle had a 90, Lilly Bechtold fired a 91, and Malia Brewer came up with a 105.

Also advancing to the sectional were two golfers from Mascoutah, Ellie Overman, with a 78 and Adiene Jones had an 87 to advance. Lucy Vinyard led the Maroons with an 86, Paige Bohnenstiehl led the Kahoks with a 97, and Riley Carnahan was the top golfer for the Warriors with a 103.
