Harrington grew up in the Alton Community Unit School District #11, and she loves the community here. She noted that working in the district has been “full of full-circle moments” as she collaborates with her former teachers and students as colleagues.

Alton’s Primary Principal Team also works together throughout the week. Harrington said it’s valuable to have a team that she can “bounce ideas off of, learn from, and turn to for advice and support.”

At Lovejoy, Harrington and her team recently introduced the “Flight Partner” initiative, because “At Lovejoy, No One Flies Alone.” Every student and staff member has a Flight Partner who knows them by name, notices when they are present or absent, and encourages them. This idea has done a lot to build the school’s culture of belonging.

Harrington added that she is proud of the staff and students at her school, who work hard every day. She is delighted to be part of such a strong team.
