Starting in November, prospective residents will choose between the signature living plan and the simple living plan. The signature living plan includes three meals a day in addition to amenities like weekly housekeeping, utilities, internet and more. The simple living plan includes most of these amenities but allows residents to purchase meals as desired. The goal, explained Executive Director Cindy Cannon, is to give residents affordable living options that match their budget and needs.

“It kind of gives them this flexibility to do what they want to do,” Cannon said. “And then, if you see, as time goes on, that you might need some more help, you can always flip to the signature living, which offers a little bit more. It offers more services for them when they need it.”

Villa Rose has housing options from studios to suites. Sewer, trash, water, internet, cable and other amenities are all included in your rent.

Signature living residents receive weekly housekeeping and linen services, while simple living residents are treated to these services biweekly. All residents can enjoy the activities and experiences that Villa Rose offers, from bingo and crafts to live music and happy hour.

Cannon said the simple living plan is geared toward people ages 55–75, who, she envisions, are renting an apartment or thinking they want to downsize. As these people “age in place,” they can transition to the signature living plan, which includes meals and transportation services.

Villa Rose also has a home care agency onsite, which allows them to provide care like medication reminders and shower assistance. You can add these services as you age and your needs change.

“We have a lot of very independent residents that don’t need help. But then, as you age a little bit in place, you can get some assistance,” Cannon said. “We have a home care agency onsite. There's somebody there 24/7. You can add services if you need it. But if you don’t need it, there’s no need to add the services.”

The ultimate goal, Cannon explained, is to provide support to seniors. She noted that people come together at Villa Rose, and the residents build a sense of community among themselves and with the staff. She is proud that Villa Rose can offer such a tight-knit community for aging adults in the Riverbend region.

“This is a community amongst themselves. The one thing that I think people find that they don’t expect is this companionship and friendship. They don’t realize that’s what they’re missing,” she said. “The thing that I think always surprises people is that they find that there’s this community here.”
