For her accomplishments, Makenzie Newell is a DD Homes Network Student of the Month for Civic Memorial High School.
Newell, a senior, has served her peers on the Student Council since she was a freshman. It’s important to her to represent and advocate for her classmates, which she also does as a Freshmentor, Meadowbrook Mentor and member of the Eagle Nation Community Outreach group.
She plays volleyball and soccer and participates in unified bowling. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Newell has participated in a variety of other organizations, including the Future Business Leaders of America, Spanish Club, and Educators Rising, where she currently serves as the secretary. She will be the lead of the hair and makeup crew in the Drama Club this year.
Outside of school, Newell serves as a senior representative for the RiverBend Growth Association. She has a part-time job and volunteers at her church and a local Vacation Bible School. She spends her free time thrifting, babysitting, and being with her friends.
Newell’s hard work has not gone unnoticed. She has received the Eagle Pride Award in soccer and was named to homecoming court. She was also inducted into the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Spanish Honor Society, and she has maintained her spot on the high honor roll every semester.
She knows exactly what she plans to do after high school. Her loved ones and teachers can’t wait to see her succeed.
“I plan on going to college to study communication disorders and become a speech pathologist,” she shared.
Congratulations to Makenzie for this recognition by Civic Memorial High School and the DD Homes Network!
