NORMAL - Edwardsville finished third with a 325 at the 2A girls golf sectional at Normal Community West, earning a place among the three advancing teams to state. The state tournament is Friday, Oct. 9 to Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur.
Senior Ally Suhre led Edwardsville with a 74, tying Dunlap senior Sydney Hunt for the second-lowest individual score. Edwardsville finished one stroke behind runner-up Dunlap, which shot 324, while Normal University won with a 318.

Edwardsville seniors Emerson Gusewelle and Kylie Lintker each shot 82, and sophomore Alexis Hunt added an 87 to complete the team’s scoring total. Junior Betsy Gates finished with a 95, and sophomore Anna Brynildsen shot 98.
Normal University was led by senior Audrey Hitt’s 76. Junior Kendall O’Connor shot 79, sophomore Hadley Hitt had an 81 and senior Kylie Runyon finished with an 82. Hunt’s 74 paced Dunlap, followed by junior Ella Streitmatter at 78, senior Audrey Aprahamian at 84 and sophomore Norah O’Leary at 88.
Oswego East junior Alli Wiertel earned medalist honors with a 72 and led the list of advancing individuals.
O’Fallon finished fifth with a 339, one stroke behind Plainfield North. O’Fallon senior Zoey Ficken shot 76 to earn an individual advancement spot. Sophomore Emelia Miller added an 84, freshman Samantha Jacob shot 89 and junior Mai Medley finished with a 90.
Belleville East placed eighth at 355, led by sophomore Cassie Albertina’s 85. Freshmen Reese Schrader and Evie Bisso shot 89 and 90, respectively, and junior Malia Brewer added a 91.
Carbondale sophomore Giorgia Thoms and Marion senior Natalie Lawler also were listed among the advancing individuals, shooting 79 and 82, respectively.
