Vendors at this year’s festival are asked to provide their own tables, chairs, shade, and electricity if needed.

The 2026 Hamilton Primary School Festival is set for Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026 from 12 to 4 p.m. on the school grounds at 107 E. Main St. in Otterville.

The event offers tours of school, live entertainment, and a veterans tribute, as well as a bake-off, raffle, craft vendors, and an outdoor church service. 100% of proceeds from the event help fund the restoration of the historic school building.

The Hamilton Primary School was the first-ever free and integrated school in Illinois and one of the first such schools in the United States. The school was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.
