Tucker's Automotive Repair & Tire Female Athletes Of Month: Three Marquette Golfers Earn All Tournament Honors

After placing second among Class 1A teams, the Explorers now turn their attention to upcoming tournaments in Springfield and Quincy.

ALTON - The Marquette girls golf team turned in a 339 to place second among Class 1A schools and third overall at the Madison County Golf Invite at Legacy Golf Course, where the Explorers competed against teams including Highland and Edwardsville.

Marquette finished behind Highland, which shot a 326, and Edwardsville, which posted a 306.

Three Marquette players earned all-tournament team honors. Maggie Pruetzel finished first in Class 1A with a 72; Kaylee Piar placed third with a 78; and Lexi Taylor finished sixth with an 84.

The Marquette girls golf squad members are Tucker's Automotive Repair & Tire Female Athletes of the Month.

Marquette head girls golf coach Jacob Simmons said: "The girls are off to a great start this season and hope to keep it going into the weekend and next week, when the team heads up to Springfield to play in the Rochester Rocket Invite on Saturday, and on Monday in Quincy at the Lady Raider Invitational!"
