EAST ST. LOUIS - The East St. Louis Senior High School cheer team earned multiple honors at a National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) cheer camp recently, including recognition voted on by other teams, according to East St. Louis School District 189.

The East St. Louis School District officials said the camp was a success for the team, which “showed up, worked hard, and represented the city with absolute pride.”

East St. Louis' cheerleaders received Top Team Cheer, Top Team Chant, and Top Team Band Chant honors. It also said other teams voted East St. Louis to win the NCA Spirit Cone, which the district described as “a huge honor that shows our leadership, positivity, and unstoppable energy.”

The district said athletes at the camp learned new skills, sharpened technique, and continued to demonstrate why “Flyers Nation stands out everywhere we go.”

“East St. Louis cheer didn’t just attend camp… we absolutely rocked it,” the district said with pride. “We are so proud of this amazing team, our wonderful city, and all the hard work these athletes put in every single day.”
