EDWARDSVILLE — The quarterfinals are set in the Pro Wildcard Challenge tennis tournament presented by The Gori Law Firm after first-day matches Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Edwardsville Tennis Center determined who remains in contention for a wild card spot in next week’s $30,000 Edwardsville Futures tournament.

Shaan Patel of Frontenac, Missouri, will face Maksym Chemorgorov of Ukraine, while Malhar Patel of Orlando, Florida, will play Naresh M. Bharathy of Tamil Nadu, India, in the upper half of the bracket. In the lower half, Andrew Kotzen of Short Hills, New Jersey, will meet Matthew Michbata of West Windsor, New Jersey, and Diego Britt-Alvarez of Naples, Florida, will play Oscar Corwin of Elm Grove, Wisconsin.

The tournament serves as a wild card qualifier for the Edwardsville Futures tournament presented by The EGHM Foundation. The player who wins Thursday’s final will qualify for the wild card draw when the Futures begins Sunday.

In first-round play in the upper half of the draw, Shaan Patel received a bye. Bogdan Zhakharov defeated Khol Vu 6-0, 6-0. Luco Lo Nardo received a bye, and Chemogorov defeated Jake Brinker 6-0, 6-1. Malhar Patel and Jesse Hattrup of Edwardsville also received byes into the second round, while Edwardsville’s Seth Lipe defeated Tanner Summers 6-4, 6-2. Bharathy received a bye.

In the lower half, Kotzen received a bye into the second round. Josiah Lawrence advanced with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Shang Lee, while Joshua Lawrence, Michibata, Rocco Ragnier, Britt-Alvarez and Corwin all received byes. In the remaining first-round match, Arhan Meka defeated Brandon Wong 6-0, 6-0.

Second-round action finalized the quarterfinal matchups. In the upper half, Shaan Patel defeated Zhakharov 6-1, 6-2, and Chemogorov beat Lo Nardo 4-6, 6-4, 10-3 in the first three-set match of the day. Malhar Patel advanced with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Hattrup, and Bharathy defeated Lipe 6-0, 6-1.

In the lower half, Kotzen defeated Josiah Lawrence 6-1, 6-2, Michibata eliminated Joshua Lawrence 6-2, 7-6, winning the tiebreak 7-3, Britt-Alvarez beat Ragnier 6-3, 6-1, and Corwin defeated Meka 6-2, 6-4.

The quarterfinals are scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, with the semifinals set to begin at 11:30 a.m. The final is scheduled for approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday, with the winner earning a wild card berth into the Futures.
