ALTON - Cam Sievers struck out 15 batters and allowed one run over six innings Wednesday as Alton Sr. Legion defeated St. Jacob Sr. Legion 8-3 at Gordon Moore Park.

Alton took control behind Sievers, who gave up three hits and walked two, and a five-run sixth inning that broke the game open. The win was fueled by timely hitting from Nolan Bowsher and Johnny Kunz and an error-free defensive effort from Alton.
Alton scored first in the opening inning when Dagan Cordes doubled to bring home a run.
St. Jacob, tied the game at 1 in the top of the third when Kelvin Long tripled to center field.
Alton regained the lead in the bottom of the third. Kunz singled to score a run and put Alton ahead 2-1.
Alton added separation in the sixth, scoring five runs on three hits. Bowsher doubled to drive in three runs, Kunz singled to score one run and Joe Stephan added an RBI single.
Alex Fritz took the loss for St. Jacob. The right-hander pitched five innings, allowing three runs, two of them earned, on five hits while striking out eight and walking two.
John Kodros and Carter Watson each appeared in relief for Alton.
Bowsher led Alton with three RBIs and went 2-for-2. He and Kunz each had two hits.
Long drove in two runs for St Jacob from the No. 9 spot in the lineup and went 1-for-2. Max Dietz, Camden McDaniel, Blain Goodwin, Long and Eli Schroeder each had one hit for St. Jacob.
