An ice cream social and a reading of the Declaration of Independence are set for July 4, 2026 on the Jersey County Courthouse lawn at 201 W. Pearl St.

Jerseyville City Council members approved a road closure for the July 4 Rock the Block concert at their meeting on June 23, 2026. Mayor Kevin Stork also shared key details of various other events also coming up on July 4.

The city’s next Rock the Block concert will feature local artist Mattie Schell and will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on July 4 in the parking lot under the water tower at Washington and Arch Street.

Multiple streets surrounding the concert site will be closed from 1 to 10:30 p.m., including West Arch Street from Washington to State Street, Washington Street from Arch Street to the south entrance of Parking Lot L, and the alley from West Prairie Street to West Arch Street.

Tourism Director Will Strang added that the parking lot itself will remain closed over the July 4 weekend, but the surrounding streets and alleyway will only be closed for the afternoon and evening on the date of the concert.

Other July 4 Events In Jerseyville

Stork said the evening’s festivities will kick off with an ice cream social at 4 p.m. on the Jersey County Courthouse lawn, followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence at 5 p.m. in the same location.

From the courthouse lawn, Stork said attendees can take advantage of the nearby closed streets to walk directly to the Rock the Block concert from 6 to 9 p.m. After the concert, the mayor reminded residents and visitors of the city’s traditional fireworks show at the American Legion Fairgrounds, which starts at dusk around 9:30 p.m.
