
ALTON - The Alton River Dragons lost their home opener to the Dubois County Bombers, 8-2, on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in Alton, as the Dragons fell to 0-7 overall entering Wednesday’s game, June 3, 2026, against the Cape Catfish.
Alton received an RBI double from designated hitter Griffin Kelly in the bottom of the fourth inning, scoring catcher Sean McConachie. The Dragons’ other run came in the fifth, when Kannon Kamp, a McGivney graduate, hit a sacrifice fly that scored Brandon Wise.

McConachie also threw out two attempted base stealers for Alton. He and Ryan Hartz each had singles in the game.
Luke Richard started for the River Dragons and pitched four and two-thirds innings with two strikeouts. Chase Wells relieved him in the fifth and worked two and two-thirds innings, allowing one run and striking out two. Lucas Valenciea finished the final inning and two-thirds, recording four strikeouts and allowing an unearned run.
The River Dragons return to action Wednesday against the Cape Catfish.

First Responders Get In Free On Wednesday Night
The team said all first responders, including police, fire, and emergency personnel, will receive free admission to Wednesday night’s game with the presentation of identification. The jerseys worn by players also will be auctioned off, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the Alton Fire and Police Foundations.
