COLLINSVILLE — After a 12-win season and the program’s first regional victory since 2023, Collinsville baseball coach Matt Pomerantz said the Kahoks showed progress this season and will look to build on it in 2027 with a returning group of experienced underclassmen.
Collinsville was eliminated from regional baseball play at Edwardsville on Saturday, May 30, 2026, by the Tigers by a 7-0 margin.

“Wins and losses aside, I felt like we really, really competed with a lot of teams,” Pomerantz said. “The win this past Wednesday against Quincy was the first regional win we've had since 2023, so that's some progress as well. But we want to hold that hardware next year. And I know with this group of underclassmen, we're bound and determined to get there next year as well.”
Pomerantz said Collinsville expects to bring back several key players, including Roman Pomerantz, Ben Tillman, and Carter Henson.
“We'll have Roman Pomerantz, Ben Tillman - his arm got broken, and he'll be coming back,” Pomerantz said. “Carter Henson. We have a really, really good underclass between freshmen, sophomores, and juniors as well. So, there'll be some people competing for some spots, we're going to turn out a competitive ball club once again, and hopefully hold that hardware next year.”
The Kahoks’ returning group, Pomerantz said, gives the program reason for optimism despite the disappointment of the season’s end.
“It's looking bright,” Pomerantz said. “Today's tough, but tomorrow's a new day, and we're excited to get going as well.”
