EDWARDSVILLE - Metro East Lutheran High's boys track and field team continued its prowess in competitions with a fourth-place finish in the Gillespie 1A Sectional Meet on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

MELHS finished with 61 points for fourth place.

Jack Shank was second for the Knights in the 1,600 (4:36.81) and teammate Dean Hemmer was fourth in that event (4:46.53). Shank qualifies for the state meet.

Henry Reiseck was fifth for MELHS in the 400 meters (53.84).

Hemmer was third in the 3,200 with a time of 10:08.19 to qualify for state.

Brice Stewart was third in the 110-meter high hurdles (16.48). Stewart was third in the long jump (5.75 meters). He won the triple jump (12.85 meters) to qualify for state.

Metro East Lutheran was fourth in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 3:36.0.

The MELHS 4 x 800 squad of Goeckner, Shank, Reiseck and Ball advanced to state in third position (8:23.85).
