Roxana advanced to the Marquette Catholic Regional final Wednesday, defeating Gillespie 5-4 in extra time in a Class 1A match behind a hat trick from Gianna Stassi and 23 saves from goalkeeper Sidney Ufert.

With the match tied 3-3 at the end of regulation, Roxana outscored Gillespie 2-1 over the extra 20 minutes to secure the win and move on to Friday’s final against Marquette.
Marquette defeated East Alton-Wood River 2-0 and will face the Shells at 6 p.m.
Stassi scored three goals for Roxana, while Mia Skinner and Savannah Cline also scored for the Shells.
Ufert finished with 23 saves in goal for Roxana.
Roxana improved to 9-10-0 with the win. Gillespie ended its season at 11-6-0.
In the other semifinal, Marquette improved to 14-4-3 with its 2-0 forfeited win over East Alton-Wood River. The Oilers finished the season at 1-15-0.
Roxana and Marquette Catholic collide at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Public School Stadium in Alton for the regional championship. The game will be live on Riverbender.com.
